Science has proven that the mere act of looking at something and observing it is enough to impact how it behaves. The Double Slit Experiment is one of the simplest and most widely tested experiments in the field of science and it shows an amazing observation in the nature of reality and how the environment reacts differently when it is being watched.
The implications of this very simple experiment has profound ramifications and suggests that there is much more going on below the surface of everyday reality.
So how does this affect you?
It affects you because you are made of EXACTLY the same atoms and electrons that give such a peculiar and counterintuitive result! So expanding this into practical, everyday life could take you one step closer on your journey to success or potentially leap-frog you forward, considering how fundamental the experiment is.
How often do you actually observe what you do in everyday life, and how much attention do you pay in monitoring your thoughts and actions?
Successful people do not advocate tirelessly watching what you do every minute of every day, but they do emphasise on being hyper aware in any area you are aspiring to succeed.
For instance, if you are trying to lose weight, it would be advisable to count your calories, or at least be moderately aware of what you are putting into your body. If you are running a business, it would be extremely wise to know the exact accounting of the business so you know your costs vs revenue so you can in turn determine your bottom line and profits.
Now doing this might seem very obvious and simple to do, but when you expand this model of observation into any area of your life where you are not reaching what you aspire to be (be it a relationship, work, business, your body, your finances, or even something as simple as being clean and tidy), I’m sure that observing it more rigourously will be the first and most effective step in propelling you closer to succeeding in that respective area.
When you are looking at something and paying attention to it, you are able to catch and eradicate negatively reinforcing behaviour and instead promote positively reinforcing behaviour. Depending on the aspect you are observing, sometimes taking action to change your behaviour can be hard, but even if you do not take action to change the behaviour straight away, just keeping an eye on how you are behaving will lay the path for positive actions to move you in the right direction. This is a promise!
Most people who struggle to reach their goals tend to move through life like a zombie, too scared to face the actions and decisions that negatively impact their lives, probably because shedding light on it is difficult and painful since it is most likely habitual. Yet the longer you have been engaged in ignorance and bad practices, the harder it will be to break the habit and change for the better. Smoking is a prime example of this!
Trust me, watching and observing is the easy part, and if you can’t do that, you don’t stand a chance at making a change and you will not have the fortitude to TAKE ACTION!
So let’s start slowly, chose one aspect of your life that you are not happy with or an aspect that needs improving and just watch it. Watch everything you do that’s related to it! Don’t try to change anything straight away, just watch and observe with no judgement. Eventually, if you truly want to change, you will keep observing until what you see and become more aware of will compel you to take action.
